What is Pharmacy First?

Pharmacy First is an NHS service that lets our pharmacists assess and treat a set of common conditions on the spot, including supplying certain medicines where appropriate — saving you a wait for a GP appointment.

Conditions we can treat

Sinusitis — adults and children aged 12 and over
Sore throat — adults and children aged 5 and over
Earache — children and young people aged 1 to 17
Infected insect bites — adults and children aged 1 and over
Impetigo — adults and children aged 1 and over
Shingles — adults aged 18 and over
Uncomplicated urinary tract infections (UTIs) — women aged 16 to 64

How it works

Just walk in and ask, or call ahead. Our pharmacist will take you through a confidential consultation in our private room, assess your symptoms, and either provide advice, supply treatment where clinically appropriate, or refer you to your GP or other services if needed.

The consultation is free. If a medicine is supplied under the NHS scheme, standard NHS prescription charges apply unless you're exempt.
